Petra by Night—A Candlelit Experience in Jordan
Discover one of the most magical evening experiences in Jordan with Petra by Night. This special event transforms the ancient Nabataean city into a glowing masterpiece illuminated by thousands of candles. As a result, visitors see the Treasury in a completely different atmosphere compared to a daytime visit.
Unlike regular tours, this candlelit walk offers a peaceful and intimate setting. The experience begins at the Petra Visitor Center and continues through the Siq, the narrow canyon that leads to the Treasury. Along the way, soft candlelight guides your path, creating a quiet and unforgettable journey.
What to Expect During Petra by Night
The evening starts with a walk of approximately 2 kilometers through the Siq. Because the canyon is lit only by candles, the mood feels calm and reflective. Once you reach Al-Khazneh (the Treasury), you will sit in front of the illuminated façade while enjoying traditional Bedouin music.
In addition, a short storytelling session introduces the history and legends of Petra. Therefore, the experience combines culture, history, and atmosphere in one memorable event. The program usually lasts around two hours before you walk back through the canyon.

Why Experience Petra at Night

Important Visitor Information
This event includes moderate walking on uneven surfaces. Therefore, comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended. In addition, evenings can be cool, especially between November and March, so bringing a light jacket is advisable.
Please note that the candlelit event does not replace a full-day visit. Instead, it is designed as a complementary experience.
