Itinerary

Pickup from Amman Your day starts with a morning pickup from your hotel in Amman. Travel comfortably with a private driver or guide. Enjoy a scenic 45-minute drive north through Jordan’s green hills and countryside. Visit Jerash—The Pompeii of the East First, arrive in Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the Middle East. Enter through Hadrian’s Arch and explore a city that dates back more than 2,000 years. During your visit, explore: The Colonnaded Street The Oval Plaza The Temples of Zeus and Artemis The Roman Theatre, still used for events Ancient bathhouses, fountains, and city walls As you walk through the ruins, your guide explains Jerash’s role in the Decapolis League and its importance during the Roman Empire. Ajloun Castle—Islamic History on a Hilltop Next, continue 30 minutes northwest to Ajloun Castle (Qala’at ar-Rabad). Built in the 12th century by the forces of Saladin, this fortress once protected the region from Crusader attacks. At the castle, you will explore: Stone towers and defensive walls Historic halls and chambers A small museum with medieval artifacts Panoramic views of the Jordan Valley and the West Bank on clear days Ajloun Castle offers a strong contrast to Jerash and gives insight into Islamic military architecture and Jordan’s medieval history.
